You may have known about this but …

… in case you didn’t.

As we all know the Google search bar is a very powerfull tool, so much so that Google has entered our vocabulary as a transitive verb. But there is even more that can be done with the little white box.

It’s a calculator: put in a string of numbers with normal calculator operands, hit enter and viola it has “searched” the string and provided the answer. Pretty handy when you need an answer quick and you don’t even have to leave your keyboard.

It’s a dictionary: just type ‘define’ in front of the word your looking up and again up pops the definition, from several sources even.

It’s a converter: again just type ‘convert’ in front of the quantity/number and the units you have then ‘to’ and the units you want. If we type ‘Convert 3550 hectares to square miles’ hit the [Search] button and we find out we are talking about 13.7 square miles.

No, Google can’t start the coffee in the morning or read your mail … yet, but it has some pretty handy and time saving features. And we can stand to save as much time as possible.
